SACRAMENTO, CA – California Governor Gavin Newsom has appointed Raj Bhutoria to the newly established California Youth Empowerment Commission.
The California Youth Empowerment Commission, conceived under Assembly Bill 46 authored by Assemblymember Luz Rivas, is set to advise the Governor, the State Legislature, and the Superintendent of Public Instruction on a range of youth-related issues. Its mission includes drafting and proposing model legislation that could profoundly impact the state’s younger population.
As the first Indian male among the Commission’s inaugural class of founding commissioners, Bhutoria’s appointment symbolizes a new era of inclusive representation and youth advocacy in California, a press release said.
Bhutoria has worked with non-profit organizations, government agencies, and grassroots movements to champion sustainable development, social justice, and educational reform. His mantra in his younger years, he said was, “We may not have a vote yet, but we have a voice in our futures!”
He has been involved in several renewable energy and green initiative projects, demonstrating his commitment to sustainable development. Through his leadership roles, Bhutoria has championed corporate social responsibility initiatives and fostered partnerships that align business success with community well-being.
