India-West News Desk
DETROIT, MI – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi recently spent time here, campaigning for fellow Democrat and presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Michigan is a key battleground state where Harris is making serious inroads with voters.
In partnership with the AAPI Victory Fund, Krishnamoorthi attended various places of worship, including a temple and a South Asian American Town Hall to boost voter numbers for Harris. The Indian American community here is not as sizeable as the ones on the coasts, but in a close race, the votes will matter. Raja was accompanied by Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin, who is running for a critical US Senate seat.
Hundreds of people participated in the events. “The enthusiasm in our community for the first ever South Asian President of the United States is very real,” Krishnamoorthi said. “I will continue to travel across the country, and across the state of Illinois, to do everything I can to help elect Kamala Harris to be our next President of the United States.”
Raja who is a member of the Harris Victory Fund National Finance Committee has previously campaigned for the Harris-Walz ticket in Wisconsin and Nevada.
