Rajeev Chandrasekhar Welcomes UPS To India

NEW DELHI, (IANS) – Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar on May 29 welcomed American major United Parcel Service (UPS) for its plans to manufacture tags used in tracking packages in the country.

Chandrasekhar said the country looks forward to welcoming UPS to start local production.

UPS at the moment does not have any manufacturing capability in India but it does have a technology center in Chennai, which complements its existing U.S. and European teams to develop in-house technology.

Reports said the world’s largest parcel delivery company is apparently in touch with some state governments for its local production plans, leveraging a friendly chip investment environment in the country.
