Texas Probes Trucking Schools Over English Language Violations

AUSTIN, TX-Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched a statewide investigation into several trucking schools accused of certifying unqualified commercial drivers, including applicants who allegedly did not meet English-language requirements under state and federal law.
The probe focuses on whether the schools provided inadequate training, misrepresented their credentials, and placed unsafe drivers on Texas roads.
Civil Investigative Demands (CIDs) have been issued to EP Texas Trucking School, CDLCALL.COM LLC, Trucker Certified LLC, Fast Track CDL LLC, and Lindenwood Education System, also known as Ancora.
According to the Attorney General’s office, federal rules require commercial driver’s license holders to demonstrate sufficient English proficiency to communicate with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, respond to officials, and complete required reports.
Investigators said preliminary findings suggest some schools ignored those standards. Authorities alleged that EP Texas Trucking School told prospective students that English proficiency was not required and promoted its services in Spanish.
The state also said several entities falsely claimed to be certified schools, while some programs advertised training that could be completed in about 20 days – shorter than the typical three- to seven-week industry standard.
“Putting non-English speakers behind the wheel of 18-wheelers in America can pose serious threats to public safety,” Paxton said in a statement. “My office is thoroughly investigating these trucking schools, and I am taking this matter very seriously. I will fight to ensure that Texans are safe and that only qualified, English-speaking truckers are operating commercial vehicles on our roads,” he added.
The schools named in the investigation operate in multiple Texas cities. EP Texas Trucking School has locations in Odessa and El Paso. Trucker Certified operates in Pampa, Amarillo, Plainview, and Borger. Fast Track CDL is based in Garland, CDLCALL in San Antonio, and Ancora’s main office is in Arlington.
