RCB Win IPL 2026 Title, Defeat Gujarat Titans By Five Wickets In Final
AHMEDABAD – Powered by veteran batter Virat Kohli’s fastest half-century in the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured back-to-back IPL titles with a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31.
Kohli smashed a 25-ball fifty and remained unbeaten on 75 off 42 deliveries as Royal Challengers Bengaluru comfortably chased down 156. He was supported by Venkatesh Iyer, who contributed a brisk 32, helping the defending champions complete the chase and retain the trophy.
Gujarat Titans were restricted to 155/8 despite an unbeaten half-century from all-rounder Washington Sundar.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s bowlers laid the foundation for victory, with pacer Rasikh Salam Dar claiming three wickets, while Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early to put Gujarat Titans under pressure.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru became only the third franchise after Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings to successfully defend an IPL title. (IANS)
