Air India to Open North America’s First Maharaja Lounge At JFK

NEW YORK, NY – Air India will move its operations at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to the new Terminal 6 beginning in 2028, the airline and JFK Millennium Partners announced on July 21.

The move will place Air India alongside several Star Alliance carriers at Terminal 6, while other international airlines, including JetBlue, Cathay Pacific and Aer Lingus, have also committed to operating from the new facility. Air India said the relocation will also strengthen connections with its codeshare and interline partners, allowing passengers to make same-terminal onward connections to destinations across the Americas.

As part of the move, the airline will open its first flagship Maharaja Lounge in North America at Terminal 6. The 9,100-square-foot lounge will expand Air India’s premium ground services in the United States following the recent opening of its Maharaja Lounge at San Francisco International Airport, the airline said.

Terminal 6 is being developed in two phases, with the first gates opening in 2026 and the full terminal expected to be completed in 2028. The project is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $19 billion redevelopment of JFK Airport.
