Supriya Ganesh Makes A Periwinkle Statement At The Emmys

LOS ANGELES, CA – Supriya Ganesh made a striking appearance at the 78th Emmy Awards, trading the medical scrubs of ‘The Pitt’ for a gleaming periwinkle satin gown by Alexander McQueen.

Ganesh, who plays Dr. Samira Mohan on HBO’s hit medical drama, arrived at the Peacock Theater in a slip dress with a mermaid-style silhouette. The gown followed the body before flaring at the skirt, with ruffles adding volume to the lower portion of the dress.

A gauzy fabric flowed from the ruffled detailing, adding another element to the skirt while maintaining the gown’s overall silhouette. The periwinkle satin gave the dress its distinctive sheen.

Ganesh accessorized the Alexander McQueen gown with Irene Neurwith jewelry and Stuart Weitzman platform shoes.

Ganesh was born in the United States to Tamil parents from India. When she was 3, she moved with her family to New Delhi. She graduated as valedictorian of her class in 2015 from Pathways School Noida before returning to the United States to attend Columbia University.

At Columbia, Ganesh graduated with a degree in neuroscience and a minor in gender studies. She initially intended to attend medical school and followed a pre-med pathway, completing the required coursework through organic chemistry.

While at Columbia, she also began auditioning for acting roles, pursuing acting alongside her studies. Her parents supported her acting ambitions but encouraged her to maintain a backup plan. Ganesh ultimately chose to prioritize acting.

Her role as Dr. Samira Mohan on ‘The Pitt’ brings her back into a medical setting, although this time as an actor rather than a student pursuing a medical career.

Her choice of a fit-and-flare silhouette was echoed by her co-star Shabana Azeez, who plays medical student Victoria Javadi on ‘The Pitt.’ Azeez arrived in a gold strapless Sophie Couture gown featuring a dramatic train.

The bodice of Azeez’s gown featured a white feather appliqué outlined in gold. The mermaid silhouette flared into a bubble hem, and she accessorized with Ivar Fine Jewelry.

Ganesh and Azeez briefly reunited on the sapphire blue carpet, where the two exchanged air kisses.

The fashion moment came as the cast of ‘The Pitt’ gathered for the Emmy Awards. The series, led by Noah Wyle, received nine nominations and won seven.
