Mindy Kaling Praises Maitreyi Ramakrishnan As ‘Best Of The Best’ Hits Netflix

MUMBAI-Actress-producer Mindy Kaling has praised actress Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as she stars in the new Netflix film ‘Best of the Best’, calling her a “sparkly person” and saying she is “proud and in awe” of her.

Kaling shared a picture on Instagram of herself hugging Ramakrishnan, along with the film’s poster.

“Hard not to get emotional, this sparkly person @maitreyiramakrishnan is starring in Best of the Best coming out today on @netflix! I’m so proud and in awe of her generally but in this movie (which looks so good, swipe for the trailer) she’s at another level,” Kaling wrote.

“The entire crew feels like talented fam @hasanminhaj @imlenakhan and all the bright new faces whom I hope to meet soon. Also, it makes even ME want to dance! Watch with me!” she added.

‘Best of the Best’, a comedy-drama centered on competitive collegiate Bollywood-fusion dance, premiered on Netflix on September 18. The film follows childhood best friends Maya and Anjali as they join UCLA’s competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team and work toward the U.S. championship.

Ramakrishnan plays Maya, while Priyanka Kedia plays Anjali.

Ramakrishnan rose to prominence as Devi Vishwakumar in the Netflix series ‘Never Have I Ever’. She has also lent her voice to films and animated projects including ‘Turning Red’ and ‘The Twits’, and appeared in the live-action films ‘Slanted’ and ‘Freakier Friday’.

Kaling rose to fame as Kelly Kapoor in ‘The Office’ and went on to create, produce and star in several television projects, including ‘The Mindy Project’ and ‘Never Have I Ever’. (IANS)
