How Did ‘Vvan’ Get His Unreleased Song? Ricky Kej Questions Sargam Vaish

MUMBAI-Independent artist Sargam Vaish has accused the makers of Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer ‘Vvan’ of using a section of his song ‘Aigiri Nandini’ without his permission in the film’s recently released trailer.

In a video posted on his official Instagram handle, Vaish said he had been working on the project for three years and alleged that around 25 seconds of the song had been used in the trailer without his permission.

Vaish identified the portion as appearing from 1 minute 8 seconds to 1 minute 33 seconds of the trailer and alleged that his master recording, production and vocals had been used as they were.

He said the song had already been given to a major music label and warned that the alleged use could affect his agreement. Vaish called on the makers to remove the song from the trailer and the film, failing which he said his legal team would take action.

The allegation prompted a question from musician and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) member Ricky Kej, who commented on Vaish’s Instagram post: “How did they get access to your master recording when you had not released it yet? (sic)”

Responding to Kej, Vaish said the song had already been given to another major film and was still unreleased. He said it had somehow reached ‘Vvan’ through another circle and was used before the original project.

Helmed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar, ‘Vvan’ is slated release in theatres on September 25. (IANS)
