NEW YORK, NY -Indian company Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has established a new endowed professorship in dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai with a $2.5 million gift.

Mark G. Lebwohl, M.D., has been named the inaugural holder of the Sun Professorship in Dermatology. He was installed at a ceremony October 6 at Hatch Auditorium at The Mount Sinai Hospital.

The professorship will support research, education and training. The endowment will provide ongoing support for academic leadership in dermatology.

The professorship will support research and training and help prepare the next generation of dermatologists, Sun Pharma said.

“At Sun Pharma, we believe meaningful progress in dermatology care requires supporting the people and institutions advancing the field today and in the future,” said Ahmad Naim, M.D., senior vice president and chief medical officer, North America.

Naim said the professorship reflects Sun Pharma’s long-term commitment to supporting academic leadership in dermatology.

Sun Pharma said it is the second-largest pharmaceutical dermatology company in the US by prescription volume.
