Trump Leaves Open Possibility Of Blanket Pardons For His Aides

WASHINGTON, DC – President Donald Trump has left open the possibility of pardoning administration officials, claiming he wanted to protect innocent people from costly investigations while maintaining that he had not considered such a move.

With the midterm election predictions showing that he may be hamstrung in his unilateral decision making rubber stamped by a plaint Congress, if the Democrats win a majority, Trump has often made the plea on the campaign trail that voters should elect GOP candidates or he himself would be impeached by the Democrats. Trump in fact has been twice impeached..

Trump said he had the authority to issue pardons, including for junior officials who could face congressional inquiries. “Well, I haven’t thought of it, but I will tell you, it would be very unfair to go through what we went through for four years, with the corrupt weaponization that took place,” he said.

Trump described those investigations as an example of what he called the weaponization of government.

However, Trump did not confirm that his administration was developing a plan to pardon junior officials.

“The, the presidential pardons are, they say the most powerful thing a president has,” he said, returning to the issue even as another reporter attempted to shift the discussion to Ukraine. (IANS)
