LOS ANGELES, CA – The India Philanthropy Alliance (IPA) has announced the 3rd annual India Giving Day, set for March 14, 2025. The campaign, aimed at increasing participation and access, will expand community and regional events across the U.S., building on the success of last year’s efforts. The IPA also plans to leverage its Youth Leadership Council to involve young people in peer-to-peer fundraising.

“India Giving Day started as a ‘proof of concept,’” said IPA Executive Director Alex Counts. “We believed that if we highlighted high-impact nonprofits and celebrated Indian culture, the Indian American community would support them. Our second campaign was a breakthrough.”

The first India Giving Day in 2023 raised nearly $1.4 million from 1,031 donors, and the 2024 event saw a significant increase, raising over $5.5 million from 1,770 donors. This growth was driven by a surge in community events, which expanded from four to over 40, and a jump in volunteer fundraisers from 36 to nearly 200.

India Giving Day 2025 aims to continue this momentum by fostering more community engagement and offering incentives and prizes. Events will range from intimate home gatherings to large regional events like those held in Dallas, Texas. The Dallas partnership between TiE and local nonprofits has grown to include seven participating organizations.

The campaign has garnered support from the Rural India Supporting Trust, MacArthur Foundation, Bank of America, MasterCard, Raj Family Foundation, Wadhwani Impact Trust, and others. Nonprofits focused on India’s development are encouraged to register by October 31, 2024: www.indiaphilanthropyalliance.org

The IPA is a coalition of organizations mobilizing people and funding in the U.S. for development programs in India. Its core members include Agastya U.S.A., Akanksha Education Fund, Akshaya Patra U.S.A., American India Foundation, and others.
