Samosa Caucus, Others, Condemn Rehiring Of India Hater At DOGE
India-West Staff Reporter
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A group of Democratic lawmakers, including Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Ami Bera (D-CA), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Shri Thanedar (D-MI), and Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA), along with Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), have strongly condemned Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for rehiring Marko Elez.
Elez, who previously resigned after being linked to racist social media posts targeting Indian Americans, was reinstated despite his past statements.
“We are outraged that Elon Musk is rehiring Marko Elez,” the lawmakers said in a joint statement. “This is someone who was tied to a social media account that advocated to ‘normalize Indian hate’ and proudly stated, ‘I was racist before it was cool.’”
They pointed to other alarming posts. “The account also promoted eugenics and criticized interracial marriage,” they added. “This kind of rhetoric has no place in American society.”
The lawmakers slammed the decision, calling it an endorsement of hate. “When given the opportunity to disavow Marko Elez, our nation’s leaders refused,” they said. “Instead, President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Elon Musk chose to rehire a self-described racist. Their response is disappointing, but not surprising.”
They warned about the broader consequences of normalizing hate. “We saw this with the rise of anti-Asian hate during the COVID-19 pandemic,” they said. “When hateful ideologies gain acceptance, our communities are put at risk.”
The statement also raised serious concerns about Elez’s access to personal data. “The Trump administration has now given this individual access to Americans’ most sensitive personal and financial information, including Social Security numbers and bank accounts,” they said. “This is disturbing and disqualifying.”
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries echoed these concerns.
“It is outrageous and deeply disturbing that Elon Musk and the Trump administration would allow an unqualified and self-described racist to handle the personal and financial data of millions of Americans,” Jeffries said. “The decision to rehire Marko Elez proves once again that Elon Musk has no interest in protecting the safety and well-being of the American people.”
The lawmakers demanded immediate action. “We demand accountability,” they said. “Those involved in the hiring of Marko Elez must be fired.”

The best response to Elon Musk will be to take a clue from Mahatma Gandhi’s instructions to boycott all material goods produced by the oppressor or a racist person. Please do not buy any Tesla products and get rid of them as soon as possible, if you have any. Flood the EV market with used Tesla and do not buy any new ones.
