NEW YORK, NY — New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani leads the 2025 New York City mayoral race, commanding a double-digit lead over his rivals and securing more than half of voter support in a new citywide poll.

The 33-year-old Democrat stunned the political establishment last month by defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary. Both Cuomo and current Mayor Eric Adams are now running as independents.

A poll conducted by Zenith Research and Public Progress Solutions between July 16 and 24 shows Mamdani with 50 percent support among likely voters — outpacing all other candidates combined. Cuomo trails in second with 22 percent, followed by Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa at 13 percent. Mayor Adams lags with just 7 percent, while former federal prosecutor Jim Walden registers 1 percent. Six percent of voters remain undecided.

Mamdani’s dominance only grows in hypothetical four-way matchups. Without Cuomo in the race, he climbs to 55 percent; without Adams, he rises to 51 percent. Even in direct, one-on-one contests, Mamdani maintains a decisive edge: 52 percent to Cuomo’s 40 percent, and 59 percent to Adams’s 32 percent.

The survey included 1,453 registered voters across all five boroughs and carries a margin of error of ±2.9 percent. It marks the most comprehensive public polling yet released for the 2025 mayoral election, scheduled for November 4.
