MIAMISBURG, OH – Former Ohio State Senator Niraj Antani has suspended his campaign for Ohio State Treasurer and confirmed that he will not seek any elected office in the 2026 election.
Antani, a Republican and a vocal supporter of President Trump, cited the growing role of personal wealth in statewide races as the primary reason for ending his campaign. In a statement, he said one of his opponents has already contributed $1.5 millions of personal funds to her campaign and is capable of increasing that amount as needed.
Referring to his recent electoral experience, he added, “In my 2024 congressional race, I raised more than all of my opponents combined, but lost to another millionaire self-funder. Given that, I simply cannot ask my supporters to fund a campaign that will in the same way at this point in time.”
Antani thanked his supporters for their backing and said his commitment to public service remains unchanged despite ending his campaign.
Antani previously served in the Ohio General Assembly from 2014 to 2020, including terms in both the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate. He was the youngest member of each chamber during his tenure and the first Indian American to serve as an Ohio State Senator.
