NEW DELHI- India has maintained steady maritime movement through the Strait of Hormuz despite escalating tensions in the Middle East, with another India-flagged vessel, Green Asha, safely crossing the crucial energy corridor.

The transit of Green Asha marks the ninth Indian-linked tanker to navigate the strategic passage since the onset of the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The strait, a vital route for global oil and gas trade, has seen disruptions due to heightened military tensions and security concerns. Despite this, Indian vessels have continued transporting essential energy supplies through the region.

Green Asha, an LPG carrier, is among several Indian ships that have crossed the corridor under heightened surveillance.

The situation in the Strait of Hormuz has remained volatile since Iran tightened its control over the passage following US-Israeli strikes on February 28, impacting global fuel supplies and energy markets.

Maritime data indicates that nearly 60 per cent of commodity-carrying ships using the route are either originating from or destined for Iran. (IANS)
