MUMBAI – ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’, starring Ranveer Singh, has crossed the Rs 1,000 crore net mark at the Indian box office, becoming the first Hindi film to achieve the milestone across all versions, while drawing high praise from Indian cricket star Virat Kohli.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller reached the landmark on Day 18 of its theatrical run, sustaining steady collections since release. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned about Rs 3.82 crore net on Day 18 across 4,030 shows nationwide.
By the end of Day 17, the film had collected approximately Rs 985 crore net domestically, including over Rs 923 crore from the Hindi version alone. Contributions from dubbed versions added to the tally, with Telugu bringing in around Rs 39.5 crore, Tamil Rs 17.5 crore, and Kannada and Malayalam together about Rs 3.25 crore.
The Hindi version has already crossed Rs 900 crore net, setting a new benchmark for a Hindi-language release. Among its other milestones, the film crossed Rs 500 crore in Hindi within six days and became the first to surpass Rs 850 crore and Rs 900 crore in the language.
Globally, the film has exceeded Rs 1,500 crore and earned over $25 million in North America. It has also sold more than 1.5 crore tickets on BookMyShow, reflecting strong audience demand.
The film now joins blockbusters such as Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Pushpa 2: The Rule, which reported collections of Rs 1,030.40 crore in 31 days and Rs 1,234.10 crore in 16 days, respectively.
With this achievement, Ranveer Singh becomes the first Hindi film actor to headline a Rs 1,000 crore net grosser in India. Playing dual roles as Jaskirat and Hamza, his performance has been widely credited as a key driver behind the film’s success.
Kohli, after watching the film, described it as a “cinematic experience” unlike anything he has seen in Indian cinema. Praising Dhar’s vision, he called the director a “genius” and highlighted the film’s emotional depth and scale.
He reserved his strongest praise for Ranveer Singh, saying the actor has “attained a different level,” and described his performance as “absolutely wow.” Kohli added that the nearly four-hour film kept him fully engaged, noting, “I didn’t flinch once,” underscoring its gripping narrative.
Responding to the praise, Aditya Dhar expressed gratitude, saying such appreciation motivates the team “to aim higher” and continue telling stories with “honesty, heart, and purpose.”
The film continues its theatrical run, with the Hindi version alone now poised to cross the Rs 1,000 crore mark, further cementing its place as a historic blockbuster. (IANS)
