After Germany, State Department Hopes For Fair Legal Process For Kejriwal

WASHINGTON, DC – The United States government is monitoring reports of Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest and has encouraged its Indian counterpart to ensure “a fair, transparent, and timely legal process” for the jailed Delhi Chief Minister and opposition leader, a State Department spokesperson said.
The US response to a Reuters reporter comes after Germany had made a similar statement and the Indian government had responded to it aggressively including summoning the German envoy and declaring it to be an internal matter.
“We see such remarks as interfering in our judicial process and undermining the independence of our judiciary,” the External Affairs Ministry said, “Biased assumptions are most unwarranted.”
India has not yet reacted to the US State Department.
Kejriwal has been arrested in connection with an alleged liquor policy scam less than a month before the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
NDTV reported the Chief Minister’s arrest has triggered protests in Delhi, with the AAP joined by opposition parties, including INDIA bloc allies Congress, the Trinamool of Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and Tamil Nadu’s ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, in condemning the agency’s action.
On March 26 several AAP workers were detained by police in Delhi, as they attempted to march on the PM’s home even as BJP workers marched calling for Kejriwal’s resignation.

Probably because they had a dirty deal with Kejriwal that Kejriwal may just vomit.

No one seems to want to report that The Indian Congress Party bitter from losing Delhi State filed a police complaint and that this arrest is the result of the complaint by the Indian Congress Party.
It is between the criminals, the policing agencies and the Indian Courts. The ruling government IS AT FAULT for NOT MEDDLING. LOL!
BJP can stop the prosecution but that would be interfering and illegal.

Indian Enforcement Agency (ED) who probe and arrest a suspect is an entirely independent agency. ED do bring the case to Indian court for the judgement. The court has the responsibility for punishment, not the political parties or the government in power.
