MUMBAI (ANI)- Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, has returned to Instagram with a post exposing the barrage of rape, acid attack, and death threats she’s received online amid the India’s Got Latent controversy.
Sharing screenshots of disturbing comments, she wrote in the caption, “and that’s not even 1%,” highlighting the scale of online abuse she’s been subjected to.
Mukhija had previously deleted her posts following the backlash but re-emerged after intense public scrutiny around the controversial show.
In February, Maharashtra Cyber Cell recorded her statement regarding the case, which also involves several other influencers.
The controversy stems from a viral episode of India’s Got Latent, where podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made inappropriate remarks involving a contestant’s parents. The comments sparked outrage, prompting Allahbadia to issue a public apology. “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny… I’m just here to say sorry,” he stated, adding that he would use his platform more responsibly going forward.
Comedian Samay Raina appeared before the Guwahati Crime Branch on April 6 in connection with the case. On February 10, Guwahati Police had registered an FIR against several YouTubers and influencers, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Mukhija, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Raina, accusing them of promoting obscenity and sexually explicit content.
Several of the accused, including Chanchlani and Mukhija, have since appeared before authorities to record their statements.
