Canada Adds India To Its Probe Of Election Interference
OTTAWA, (IANS) – Months after Canada accused India of having a role in the killing of pro-Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a designated terrorist in New Delhi, an independent commission has now announced it will investigate meddling by India in the country’s federal elections in 2019 and 2021.
India is now on the list with Russia and China.
The Foreign Interference Commission, which was set up last year by the Trudeau government to investigate interference by foreign governments in the last two federal elections in Canada, on January 23 has officially added India’s name.
The commission in a statement has asked the Canadian government to give it all information and documents related to said accusation.
“The commission will also examine the flow of information within the federal government in relation to these issues, evaluate the actions taken in response, assess the federal government’s capacity to detect, deter, and counter foreign interference, and make recommendations on these issues,” it said.
It is expected to complete an interim report by May 3 and deliver its final report by the end of this year.

According to reuters.com of January 24: 2024, “ The commission said in a statement on Wednesday that it had requested the Canadian government to provide documents “relating to alleged interference by India related to the 2019 and 2021 elections.””
“ The Indian High Commission in Ottawa did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.”
It’s not clear to me yet if the allegations against India regarding election interference are genuine or politically motivated in light of the deteriorating relationship between Canada and India in the wake of Canada’s allegations linking Indian agents to the murder of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia last year. Time will tell.

Election interference is a very serious charge and should not be made breezily. It is one thing to lie about who created the caste system (the British) but they better not lie about serious matters. Especially when Western media brainwash millions about Indian democracy.
