Choreographer Terence Lewis Says He’s ‘Off the Marriage Shelf,’ Happy Staying Single

MUMBAI — Celebrated choreographer Terence Lewis has opened up about his personal life, candidly revealing why marriage is no longer on his mind. Known for his honesty and humor, Lewis said he’s perfectly content being single and has accepted that the ‘expiry date’ for marriage in his life has passed.

Addressing long-standing curiosity about his relationship status, the dancer and television personality explained that he doesn’t see the need to complicate his life with marriage.
‘Hum se toh na ho paega, yeh expiry date ho chuka hai — now I’m off the shelf, marriage shelf,’ he said. ‘I’m very happy being single. I think, why ruin someone else’s life when I’ve already learned from my own experiences? One person miserable is better than two.’

Recently, Lewis walked the ramp as a showstopper for designers Vishal and Sona Thawani, appearing in a groom-inspired look. He shared that the experience was special not just for the fashion element, but for the emotions it evoked.
‘Wearing the groom’s outfit and walking the ramp felt symbolic — it was about elegance, emotion, and celebration,’ he said.

Professionally, Lewis remains one of India’s most accomplished choreographers. His impressive body of work spans Bollywood films such as Lagaan, Jhankaar Beats, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, along with stage shows, corporate events, Broadway and West End musicals, and numerous music videos.

He also made history as the first Indian recipient of the prestigious Dance Web Europe Scholarship, representing India in Vienna, Austria.

Beyond choreography, Lewis has showcased his versatility on television — as a contestant on Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 3 and as a judge on multiple dance reality shows, including India’s Best Dancer Seasons 3 and 4.
