WASHINGTON, DC –  In the wake of India’s Operation Sindoor, aimed at dismantling Islamist terror networks behind recent targeted killings, the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) issued a strong statement supporting the action and calling attention to the global rise in anti-Hindu hate.

“As a group that has been drawing attention to the rise of anti-Hindu hate in various parts of the world, CoHNA is glad to see such action against those responsible,” the organization said in a statement on May 7.

CoHNA described the Phalgam massacre as a brutal reminder of “how deep and ruthless hatred can be,” and how “wives and children were forced to watch as their loved ones were slaughtered.”

CoHNA also criticized the broader ideological environment that fosters such violence, pointing to recent remarks by Pakistan’s Army Chief as emblematic of “a state ideology founded on anti-Hindu hate.” The group noted that the terrorists responsible had links to long-standing Islamist groups with roots in Pakistan, which has also harbored figures such as Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.

Explaining the symbolic meaning behind the operation’s name, CoHNA said, “Sindoor—or vermillion—is a symbol that many married Hindu women proudly wear in the parting of their hair. It stands for fortune, devotion, and fertility. This fortune was forcibly snatched away from the wives of those who were slaughtered by the terrorists.”

“Today’s actions are one step in honoring those women and families who lost their loved ones to terror and hate,” the statement concluded.
