Controversy: Hasan Minhaj Likely Out Of Race To Replace Trevor Noah
India-West News Desk
In a recent development reported by Puck News, Paramount Global has informed comedian Hasan Minhaj that he will no longer be considered to host ‘The Daily Show,’ the Daily Beast reported.
Originally, Minhaj was poised to step into the role of ‘The Daily Show’ host, succeeding Trevor Noah, with an announcement expected to occur this summer. However, the ongoing strike has thrown a wrench into the works, leading to conflicting narratives between the two parties involved.
According to Minhaj’s camp, the Daily Beast said, there was a verbal agreement in place that effectively sealed the deal, even though no official contract had been signed. In contrast, Paramount Global contends that numerous critical details remained unresolved, encompassing standard vetting procedures such as background checks.
This turn of events follows earlier reports in August that positioned Hasan Minhaj as a frontrunner for ‘The Daily Show’ host role. However, just a month later, his status appeared to have waned, in part due to a New Yorker exposé that meticulously fact-checked various anecdotes from his comedic act and interviews. Despite the scrutiny, Minhaj steadfastly maintained that his stories were rooted in an “emotional truth.”
