Couple Convicted For Stealing At Changi Airport

MUMBAI – A dentist and an engineer, have been sentenced to jail for stealing luxury goods while in transit to Mumbai, at Changi Airport.
Kapadia Husain Zoher, 35, received an 18-day jail term, while his wife, Kapadia Amatullah, 30, was sentenced to one week in jail. Both pleaded guilty to theft charges, with CCTV recording all their attempts to shoplift. They are American citizens
The couple was waiting for a connecting flight to Mumbai on June 23 when the incidents occurred. According to police, Zoher first entered a Louis Vuitton store in Terminal 1 and stole a card case holder valued at around $600.
Then the couple walked to a perfume store in Terminal 3. Zoher took a bottle of Dior Sauvage perfume worth approximately $160 while his wife acted as a lookout. They left the store without paying.
Police were notified and identified the couple, arresting them on their Mumbai-bound plane before it could take off. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the stores.
