LOS ANGELES, CA – Deepika Padukone has made history as the first Indian actress to be selected for a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, cementing her place among the global entertainment elite.
The news was unveiled during a live press conference at Ovation Hollywood, where the Class of 2026 honorees was announced. Padukone will be honored alongside international stars such as Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Rami Malek, Stanley Tucci, Miley Cyrus, Gordon Ramsay, and Rachel McAdams.
Padukone responded to the news with a one-word post on Instagram: “Gratitude…”
The milestone not only highlights her crossover success but also marks a landmark moment for Indian cinema. While legendary actor Sabu Dastagir, of Indian origin, was awarded a star back in 1960, Padukone becomes the first Indian woman — and the first mainstream Bollywood actress — to be recognized with this honor.
Her Hollywood debut came in 2017 opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, which opened the door to a global audience. Since then, she has become a familiar face at high-profile international events such as the Met Gala and Cannes Film Festival.
This latest recognition follows a string of international honors for Padukone, who was recently named to TIME magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People and Variety‘s International Women’s Impact Report.
According to the Walk of Fame selection committee, “hundreds of nominations” were reviewed before the final honorees were chosen at a meeting held on June 20.
