Ekal’s Greater LA & OC Chapters Host Annual Event

IRVINE, CA – On August 26, the Northwood High School Performing Arts Center here, came alive with the mesmerizing rhythms of dance and lilting music during the Ekal Greater LA & OC Chapter’s annual event.
The event featured captivating performances, including both classical and vibrant Bollywood-style Kathak dance. The evening’s highlight was the dance drama titled “Jataayu Moksh,” which transported the audience to a bygone era.
In a heartfelt tribute, the event celebrated the well-regarded musician from Southern California Gopal Marathe through performances by his son, Nishad Marathe, and the talented Dr. Seema Hanamsagar, accompanied by a stellar team of artists.
The atmosphere was electric as the melodies of old Bollywood classics filled the air, prompting the audience to join in.
Esteemed guests at the event included Pratibha Goyal, Pacific Region Regional President, and former board member Uma Gulani, a press release said.
The first half of the program showcased the grace and beauty of classical dance, courtesy of Punam Kumar’s Shivam Arts & Dance School.
Earlier, before the performances began, attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner, and dedicated youth volunteers set up engaging booths for all. The program commenced with stirring renditions of the US and Indian National Anthems, instilling a sense of unity and pride.
