NEW DELHI, (ANI) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21 welcomed US Vice President JD Vance, his wife Usha Vance, and their three children at his official residence in New Delhi. The visit marked a significant step forward in strengthening India-US bilateral relations.

During the high-level meeting, Prime Minister Modi and Vice President Vance acknowledged the “significant progress” made in the ongoing negotiations toward a mutually beneficial India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement. Both leaders emphasized that the agreement would prioritize the welfare of citizens in both nations.

The discussions extended beyond trade, as the two leaders reviewed the broader spectrum of bilateral cooperation, a communique said. They noted continued and deepening collaboration in key areas such as energy, defense, and strategic technologies. The leaders also exchanged views on various regional and global issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred path forward.

Prime Minister Modi fondly recalled his visit to Washington D.C. in January, highlighting his constructive discussions with President Donald Trump. He noted that those talks had laid a strong foundation for future collaboration, drawing upon the shared visions of Make America Great Again (MAGA) and Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Prime Minister expressed anticipation for the President’s upcoming visit to India later this year.

Vice President Vance, accompanied by senior US officials, also took part in cultural visits earlier in the day. The Vance family toured the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in New Delhi. “It is a great credit to India that you built a beautiful temple with precision and care. Our kids, in particular, loved it. God bless,” Vance posted.

Additionally, the family visited the Central Cottage Industries Emporium at Janpath, engaging with India’s rich tradition of handicrafts and artisanal heritage.
