India Treating Pannun Case Seriously: Richard Verma

WASHINGTON, DC – Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Richard R. Verma, who arrived in India on February 18, two days into his trip has said, the US will remain engaged with India on the involvement of an Indian official in a thwarted plot to kill Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

He said the US and looks forward to the findings of an Indian committee investigating the matter. “And they’ve taken it very seriously,” Verma said about India, while responding to a question.

Verma, who served as the 25th US Ambassador to India from 2014 to 2017, met Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on February 19.

He is in India to advance global strategic partnerships on a full range of issues, including economic development, security, and technology.
