India, U.S. Advance Defense Cooperation, Strategic Interests In Indo-Pacific

SINGAPORE- Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh held discussions with U.S. Congressman Pat Harrigan, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, who led a bipartisan U.S. Congressional Delegation (CODEL) to Singapore, focusing on regional security, expanding defense cooperation, and advancing shared strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific.

In a post on X, the Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Public Relations said, “Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh held productive discussions with Member, House Armed Services Committee Pat Harrigan, who led a bipartisan US Congressional Delegation (CODEL).”

“The interaction reaffirmed the strength of the India–US defense partnership, with exchanges on regional security, expanding defense cooperation, and advancing shared strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific,” it added.

Rajesh Kumar Singh is in Singapore on an official visit to attend the Shangri-La Dialogue, a leading security forum that brings together policymakers and defense leaders from the Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe, the Middle East and other regions to discuss key security challenges and policy responses.

On the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue, Singh also held separate meetings with senior officials from Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Sweden, the Netherlands and the European Union to discuss defense cooperation, regional security and other issues of mutual interest. (IANS)
