Indian American Radha Iyengar Nominated as a Deputy Under Secretary of Defense

WASHINGTON, DC – President Joe Biden has nominated Radha Iyengar Plumb to the post of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment on June 15. She is currently the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary of Defense.

She has also held a number of senior staff positions on national security issues at the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and the White House National Security Council.

Prior to her public service positions, Plumb worked as Director of Research and Insights for Trust and Safety at Google, as the Global Head of Policy Analysis at Facebook and as a Senior Economist at RAND Corporation.

Plumb has her Ph.D. from Princeton University and bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She did her post doctoral work at Harvard University and was an assistant professor at the London School of Economics.
