Jai Ho 2026 Celebrates Culture, Community And Freedom

TORRANCE, CA – The Sri Panchamukha Hanuman Temple hosted Jai Ho 2026, its fourth annual celebration of India’s Independence Day, bringing the community together for a day of culture, entertainment and fellowship.

This year’s celebration was particularly significant as the City of Torrance recently proclaimed August 15 as India Independence Day in the city.

The event was attended by Torrance Mayor Sharon Kalani, Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce President Donna Duperron and Consul Kulwant Singh of the Consulate General of India in Los Angeles.

With a large outdoor stage, more than 350 participants and a diverse lineup of programs, Jai Ho 2026 highlighted the richness and diversity of Indian culture. Music, dance, fashion, food and entertainment filled the day.

One of the highlights was a fashion show featuring traditional Indian attire representing different parts of India. Mayor Sharon Kalani also took part in the show, walking the stage in traditional Indian attire and drawing an enthusiastic response from the audience.

Another centerpiece was the cultural presentation ‘Salute,’ which combined dance, acting and storytelling to honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom and peace in India and around the world. The presentation highlighted the courage and sacrifice behind the freedoms enjoyed today.

The celebration also featured Youth Impact Awards recognizing young individuals, as well as an Indian Army Veteran Award honoring the service and sacrifice of a veteran.

Consul Kulwant Singh recognized the intent behind Jai Ho: bringing people together, celebrating culture, honoring the nation and creating a meaningful community experience.

Beyond the stage, Jai Ho offered a carnival atmosphere with more than 30 vendor booths, food, raffle giveaways, popcorn and cotton candy. A large obstacle course was also a popular attraction among children.
