NEW YORK, NY – On March 5, the initial trailer for the upcoming thriller film, “The Watchers,” was unveiled by New Line and Warner Bros. Although mastermind M. Night Shyamalan produced the movie, it takes a unique turn with his daughter, Ishana Night Shyamalan, assuming the directorial role.

Dakota Fanning stars as Mina in “The Watchers,” a 28-year-old artist stranded in the woodlands of western Ireland. Seeking refuge comes at a cost, as Mina and fellow strangers in the shelter are relentlessly stalked by enigmatic, unseen creatures each night.

The narrative appears to serve as a compelling metaphor for the contemporary Panopticon of widespread surveillance and social media. While the film promises unexpected twists and revelations, the trailer is already replete with eerie visuals, such as a winged skeleton holding a sign that reads, “Point of No Return.”

Having graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and creating short films, Ishana’s involvement in her father’s Apple TV+ series, “Servant,” is noteworthy. She directly penned several episodes, including the action-packed finales for seasons 2 and 3.

Reflecting on her work on “Servant” in 2022, Ishana shared with Entertainment Weekly, “I think as a young filmmaker, everyone experiences this intense fear when embarking on the professional world for the first time.” Despite this, her father is confident in her distinct style, stating, “She has slightly more of a fantasy bend than I do. She speaks in bolder colors than I do. The camera is more canted or more grotesque in showing someone scarier,” as Night told EW.
