Meet Bharat Jain The Millionaire Beggar
MUMBAI – In an extraordinary tale, begging has transformed into a profitable venture for Bharat Jain, a beggar who has achieved a net worth of nearly $1 million. Typically associated with adversity and misfortune, Jain’s story highlights the unexpected paths some individuals traverse to secure a prosperous future.
Media reports have revealed that Bharat Jain, a panhandler here, has managed to accumulate an astounding ₹7.5 crores through his daily street solicitations in this bustling tech and financial hub. Jain’s consistent efforts have enabled him to earn an estimated 2500 rupees daily.
Remarkably, Jain’s earnings have propelled him into property ownership. He resides in a lavish two-bedroom apartment, an investment made possible by his unconventional career. Additionally, Jain’s business acumen extends to leasing two shops, which yield an extra $363 monthly.
Jain’s extraordinary financial success has earned him the distinction of being named the world’s wealthiest beggar by local media outlets. His journey began in response to his impoverished upbringing and lack of formal education. Despite these challenges, Jain now possesses the means to provide his children with an education at a prestigious convent school.
Begging for approximately 10 to 12 hours daily, Jain focuses his efforts around prominent locations like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station and Azad Maidan sports ground. These prime spots contribute to his significant daily earnings, reflecting the generosity of passersby.
Residing in a duplex apartment in Parel, Jain and his family inhabit a 1BHK space. His children have successfully graduated from a convent school, achieving their educational goals. Jain’s extended family manages a stationery store, contributing to their livelihood. Despite their persistent pleas for him to abandon his panhandling, Jain remains steadfast, choosing to ignore their advice and persist in his begging pursuits. (From agency reports)

I can understand if the circumstances force someone to beg to feed the family. It is shameful to know that he continues to do so despite being wealthy. He should start chairs for homeless and under privileges in the community to atone for his acts. I hope the income tax department takes cognizance of his income and levy tax on his income.
