BEDMINSTER, NJ – Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni made heads turn on September 7 as he joined former President Donald Trump for a game of golf at Trump’s exclusive golf club here.
Videos and images of the duo on the golf course quickly circulated on social media platforms, with fans applauding Dhoni’s golfing skills. A snapshot shared by Dubai-based entrepreneur Hitesh Sanghvi captured the moment, and the caption read, “Golf with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Donald Trump, and Rajiv Sharma. Thank you, Mr. President, for hosting us [sic].”
Dhoni’s presence was at a fundraiser event, where tickets were priced at a staggering $100,000 per plate. The event was organized to support former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, who has faced mounting legal challenges and financial burdens due to his involvement in efforts to overturn the 2020 US presidential election results.
Giuliani, Trump’s former lawyer, has been embroiled in a series of legal issues, including fines, sanctions, and damages, stemming from his attempts to challenge the election results. Last month, he and Trump were indicted, along with 17 others, in Georgia for their alleged involvement in a conspiracy to overturn the election after Trump was defeated by Joe Biden in 2020.
The event’s association with Trump’s controversial legal battles has stirred mixed reactions online.
While many cricket fans celebrated Dhoni’s interaction with the former US President, others raised concerns about the implications of associating with Trump, who faces multiple criminal charges. Dhoni’s outing with Trump remains a topic of discussion, both on and off the fairways.
