Neal Katyal On America’s Top 200 Lawyers List

India-West News Desk

WASHINGTON, DC – Indian American Neal Katyal has been named in Forbes’ America’s Top 200 Lawyers list for 2024. An honor that is given to lawyers with stellar track records in their areas of focus, those who have broken barriers to emerge as leaders in their fields, and attorneys most respected by peers and clients.

Forbes cited the reason Katyal had made the list:

Katyal has argued 50 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and has extensive experience in litigation, constitutional law, patents, arbitration, and employment. He serves as the Special Prosecutor for the State of Minnesota in the murder of George Floyd. While Acting Solicitor General of the United States from 2010-2011, Katyal won a case upholding the constitutionality of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Katyal won another landmark voting rights-related case in 2023 when the Court rejected the “independent state legislature theory” in a North Carolina gerrymandering case.

The law firm Hogan Lovells where Katyal is a partner, issued a statement confirming the strengths that he brings to the profession.

Katyal has appeared on virtually every major American news program and is an easily recognizable face as one commentating on national developments. Raised in Illinois, he has degrees from Dartmouth and Yale Law College. He has taught at Georgetown Law to much acclaim.

He has also performed on Netflix’s House of Cards and Showtime’s Billions (where he played himself in both series). Katyal is married to Joanna Rosen, a physician.

  • Neal Katyal is an outstanding mind in constitutional law respected by all those who have read his works and ever met him in person. He is on the top of the list as an American, lawyer, and fellow citizen lifting the boat of a profession that needs lifting in this age of cynics, rascals, and yahoos bent on destroying the Constitution. We certainly hope the next appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court’s bench will be filled by Neal Katyal.
