Neena Gupta Says ‘No RIP’ For Pritish Nandy!

MUMBAI – Pritish Nandy passed away on January 8 at the age of 73. His close friend, actor Anupam Kher, shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, mourning the loss of someone who had a profound influence on his life.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Kher described Nandy as a unique editor, journalist, poet, and filmmaker. He fondly remembered how Pritish was his pillar of support when he first arrived in Mumbai. Kher wrote, “Deeply saddened and shocked to know about the demise of one of my dearest and closest friends #PritishNandy! Amazing poet, writer, filmmaker, and a brave and unique editor/journalist! He was my support system and a great source of strength in my initial days in Mumbai.”
Kher went on to reflect on their shared experiences and the lessons he learned from his friend. He expressed regret over not having met Pritish in recent times but cherished their inseparable bond.
However, not all reactions to Pritish Nandy’s passing were entirely positive. Actress Neena Gupta took to social media with a scathing comment, accusing Nandy of stealing her daughter Masaba Gupta’s birth certificate and publishing it without her consent. She expressed her disdain, writing, “Do you know what he did to me? I called him a bastard openly. He stole my baby’s birth certificate and published it. So, no RIP, you understand, and I have proof of it.”
Nandy was responsible for publishing that cricketer Viv Richards was the father of the child – now the famed designer Masaba Gupta – and dubbing her a “love child.”
