Netanyahu Is Frustrating: Congressman Ami Bera

India-West News Desk

ELK GROVE, CA – Congressman Ami Bera has expressed frustration with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of obstructing a ceasefire deal that could restore peace in Gaza. “Benjamin Netanyahu is standing in the way of the ceasefire deal,” Bera told NDTV.

As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Select Committee on Intelligence, Bera highlighted the lengthy process of negotiating a ceasefire and emphasized the need for both Hamas and Netanyahu to come to the table. “I am frustrated as well. Netanyahu should accept the ceasefire deal, and we should work on getting the hostages released,” he said.

The Democrat also praised the historic decision by Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations to recognize Israel, calling it a “remarkable” development. However, Bera stressed that progress hinges on achieving a ceasefire and initiating discussions on a two-state solution. “Prime Minister Netanyahu is the one standing in the way of that,” Bera added.

Bera also discussed Vice President Kamala Harris’s position on the Gaza crisis. He noted that Harris, along with President Biden, is committed to securing a ceasefire and addressing the tragic loss of civilian lives. “Vice President Harris has spoken about the tragedy of October 7 and the subsequent loss of life. She emphasizes the need for both Jewish people in Israel and Palestinian people to live with dignity and peace,” Bera said.

  • For Israel it is existential crisis, like its EXISTENCE as a nation. The Israeli PM has to do what is good for his country, protecting the country’s citizens. That is what he is elected for. Mr Bera ought to know better.
