CINCINNATI, OH – Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy trails Democratic nominee Amy Acton by three percentage points in a new AARP survey of likely Ohio voters, with the race remaining within the poll’s margin of error.

The June 14-16 poll, conducted by bipartisan firms Fabrizio Ward and Impact Research among 800 likely voters, found Acton at 47 percent support compared with 44 percent for Ramaswamy. The survey has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

The survey found a clear age divide in the governor’s race. Acton leads by 24 percentage points among voters under age 50, while Ramaswamy holds a 10-point advantage among voters aged 50 and older. Acton also leads independents by 26 points.

AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond said in a release that voters aged 50 and older remain highly engaged in this year’s elections.

“This is the most influential voting bloc in American elections,” LeaMond said. “They consistently vote at outsized rates, and the issues that matter most to them – Social Security, Medicare, inflation, and retirement security – decide the outcome in competitive races.”

LeaMond added that Social Security is “one of the top issues” for older swing voters. Her comments followed a Trump administration report released earlier this month showing the program would be unable to pay full benefits within seven years under current law.
