Newsweek CEO Dev Pragad To Be Guest Of Honor At Pravasi Divas

NEW YORK, NY – Dev Pragad, Chief Executive Officer of Newsweek, will attend the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Bhubaneswar as the Guest of Honor, following a personal invitation from External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The event, scheduled from January 8 to 10, celebrates the contributions of the Indian diaspora to India’s development and fosters stronger ties between India and its global community.

“Dev Pragad’s presence at the PBD Convention highlights his outstanding achievements in transforming Newsweek and exemplifies the spirit and grit of the Indian diaspora,” noted an official statement.

Since taking the helm at Newsweek, Pragad has revitalized the 87-year-old publication into a profitable, multi-platform digital powerhouse reaching over 100 million monthly readers—the highest in its history.

Under Pragad’s guidance, Newsweek has also become a hub for high-profile discussions, hosting global leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japan’s former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Harvard Business School has even recognized his innovative strategies, making Newsweek’s turnaround the subject of two case studies taught in its executive programs.

PNow an American citizen with dual citizenship in the United Kingdom, he also serves on the Advisory Board of the Prince’s Trust, a charity founded by King Charles III to support vulnerable youth. Pragad is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and King’s College London, where he is a fellow.

The theme of this year’s Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” reflects the evolving role of overseas Indians in shaping India’s global narrative.
