DAYTON, OH – A new contemporary fiction novel titled ‘Before We Were Women’ has been released by Sunita Reddy, M.D. The book is currently available in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle formats.

The narrative centers on three female characters, Anita Kumar, Ashley Spady, and Robin Zymanski, as they navigate personal challenges over the course of a single summer. Anita deals with the long-term impact of a teenage pregnancy, Ashley attempts to escape domestic violence, and Robin, who is adopted, searches for information regarding her identity and origin. The novel focuses on themes of forgiveness, identity, personal autonomy, and empowerment, tracking how the characters confront their pasts and build a supportive community.

The author is a practicing obstetrician and gynecologist based in Dayton, Ohio. A graduate of Kakatiya Medical College in WarangalReddy also trained in Kuchipudi dance during her youth. She states that her medical background and clinical work with women facing difficult life circumstances informed the realism and emotional themes of the characters. Her early training in dance performance also introduced her to traditional storytelling methods.

According to Reddy, the book addresses real-world issues such as domestic abuse and generational silence to encourage discussion around these topics. Due to its focus on personal growth and interpersonal relationships, the publisher notes that the book is structured to accommodate group discussions and book club formats.
