Pannun Claims FBI, Canadian Police Have Warned Him Of New Threat

NEW YORK, NY – Gurpatwant Singh Pannun says US and Canadian authorities have separately alerted him to a fresh threat against his life. The Khalistani terrorist and general counsel of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) is a dual US-Canadian citizen.

Pannun said FBI agents met with him August 20 and advised him to hold off on travel while the threat remained unresolved. He said they also asked him to give the agency advance notice of any travel plans.

He said the FBI warning was issued under the US “Duty to Warn” provision, which calls for intelligence and law enforcement agencies to alert individuals when they become aware of credible and specific threats involving murder, serious bodily harm or kidnapping.

The RCMP also contacted Pannun by phone August 25, he said, and issued a similar warning. Neither agency has disclosed details about the alleged threat or any suspected plot, the Times of India reported.

Pannun also claimed that Canadian authorities had issued similar “Duty to Warn” advisories to Hardeep Singh Nijjar, another Khalistani terrorist and Canadian citizen, in the weeks before he was killed in Surrey, British Columbia, in June 2023.

The latest warning comes as Pannun remains at the center of a separate US case involving an alleged 2023 plot to assassinate him. Indian national Nikhil Gupta pleaded guilty in February to federal charges connected to the alleged conspiracy.

Gupta is scheduled to be sentenced November 20 in Manhattan federal court.
