Pia Dandiya Drops First TV Ad As Polls Show Her Narrowly Leading In Florida

MIAMI, FL – Democratic candidate Pia Dandiya has released her first general election advertisement in Florida’s 22nd Congressional District, where she is challenging Republican Casey Askar.

Dandiya’s campaign has raised $2 million for the race and she has been endorsed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (D-NY), who recently said she was open to campaigning with her.

The 30-second commercial comes as a recent House Majority PAC poll shows Dandiya leading Askar in the race.

The poll, conducted by Impact Research from August 24-31, found Dandiya ahead 46% to 44% in the initial matchup. On the generic congressional ballot, Democratic and Republican candidates each received 46% support. After voters were given information about both candidates, Dandiya’s support rose to 49%, while Askar remained at 44%.

In the new ad, Dandiya talks about her experience as a teacher and the issues she plans to address in Congress. She says her parents taught her to “leave the world better than I found it” and that she became a teacher for students others had written off.

The commercial then turns to rising costs and Dandiya’s criticism of lawmakers in Washington, whom she says are focused on enriching themselves.

The National Republican Congressional Committee has attacked Dandiya over her position on President Donald Trump, suggesting she would support another impeachment effort following the failure of a recent resolution introduced by Rep. Al Green, D-Texas.
