WASHINGTON, DC – President Donald Trump urged Ohio voters to elect Republican gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy at a campaign rally in Chillicothe, where Ramaswamy promised property-tax relief and action against sanctuary cities ahead of the November 3 elections.

Addressing supporters on October 28, six days before the elections, Trump predicted a Republican victory and appealed to voters to support Ramaswamy and the party’s congressional candidates.

“Six days from now, the people of Ohio are going to elect Vivek Ramaswamy as your governor,” Trump said.

Trump later invited Ramaswamy to address the crowd, giving the Republican nominee an opportunity to outline his economic and immigration priorities in the closing stretch of his campaign against Democratic nominee Amy Acton.

Ramaswamy framed the contest around improving the lives of Ohio residents, linking his state-level agenda to Trump’s national policies.

“President Trump puts Americans first,” he said. “I’m going to put Ohioans first.”

Ramaswamy pledged what he described as the biggest property-tax relief package in Ohio’s history if elected. He did not provide details of the proposal, including its cost or financing.

He also promised to end sanctuary cities in Ohio, presenting the commitment as an extension of the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Earlier in his address, Ramaswamy said he would act through an executive order on his first day in office.

Trump defended Ramaswamy against criticism of his campaign, accusing the media of treating him unfairly. He also attacked Acton’s record and political positions, while Ramaswamy criticized the Democratic nominee’s handling of Ohio’s response to Covid. (IANS)
