Saif Ali Khan Attacker Files Bail, Says Charges Are “Fictitious”

MUMBAI (IANS) – Mohammed Shariful Islam, the man accused of attacking Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence in January this year, has filed a bail application.

Islam claims the First Information Report (FIR) against him is a “fictional story” and lacks credible evidence. The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 21.

Currently lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail, Islam, through his advocate Vipul Dushing, asserts his innocence and states he has no prior criminal record. His bail plea highlights that the investigation is nearly complete, with only the charge sheet remaining to be filed. It also notes that crucial evidence, including CCTV footage and call records, are already with the prosecution, suggesting no threat of evidence tampering or witness influencing.

“The present FIR is nothing but a fictitious story of the complainant,” Islam stated, emphasizing his plea for bail.

The incident occurred earlier in January, during the wee hours of January 16, when the actor was allegedly stabbed multiple times while attempting to fight off a burglar. Saif sustained six stab wounds, two of which were serious due to their proximity to his spine.
