Stanford AI Index 2026: Indian Women Surpass U.S. Women In AI Skills
NEW DELHI– Indian women are acquiring artificial intelligence-related skills at a higher rate than their counterparts in the United States, according to the Stanford AI Index 2026 released by Stanford University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence in California, highlighting India’s growing role in the global AI workforce.
The report found that India’s AI skill penetration rate among women reached 1.9 in 2025, up from 1.61 in the previous edition of the index. The figure was higher than that of women in the United States (1.71) and also exceeded rates recorded in Canada and the United Kingdom.
India also emerged as a global leader in workplace AI adoption. According to ADP Research data cited in the report, 41 percent of employees use AI nearly every day and about 80 percent use it at least several times a week — the highest level among surveyed markets. Women reported higher AI usage than men, with 44 percent using AI daily compared with 40 percent of men. (IANS)
