Taraji P. Henson Dons Gaurav Gupta’s Celestial Saree Gown

CANNES (ANI)- Indian designers made a splash at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Among the standout moments was American actress Taraji P. Henson’s appearance where she wore a stunning ensemble by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta.

Henson chose the designer’s Moonstone celestial saree gown for her hosting appearance at the prestigious amfAR Gala.

The gown featured “a silhouette sculpted in moonstone ivory with sheer architectural drapes, a dramatic high slit, and a sculptural palla—envisioned as a celestial extension of the body. Tonal sequins shimmer like stardust, capturing both light and movement.”

Gaurav Gupta also designed another show-stopping look for Cannes 2025—an elegant black velvet bodycon gown worn by actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The gown was intricately hand-embroidered in shades of silver, gold, charcoal, and black. Adding a regal touch, Aishwarya paired it with a Banarasi brocade cape handwoven in Varanasi. The cape stood out for its rich texture and its unique embellishment—a Sanskrit shloka from the Bhagavad Gita inscribed across it.

The verse read: “Karmanye Vadhikaraste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana. Ma karmafalheturbhurma te Sangostvakarmani”
