Want India Factory? Become ‘Elon Bhai’ Suggests Carl Pei

NEW DELHI – In a lighthearted exchange on X, Carl Pei, CEO and co-founder of the London-based consumer electronics brand Nothing, suggested that Tesla CEO Elon Musk change his username to ‘Elon Bhai’ even as reports swirl of him opening a Tesla factory in India.

Pei humorously questioned Musk, stating, “@elonmusk did you really think you could build a Tesla factory in India without changing your username to Elon Bhai?”

Hours earlier, Pei changed his username on the platform to ‘Carl Bhai.’ This move was inspired by a playful interaction with an Indian user, Raman, who commented on Nothing India’s social media handle about their brand ambassador, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh asking why the company needed one at all. Pei’s witty reply was “We want to sell more phones bhai,” and to an amusing user name change. That exchange gained attention and has since been viewed over 800,000 times with over 12,000 likes.

Responding to Pei’s tweet to the Tesla head, one user said about Musk, “You are the Bhai, he will be the Mamu.”

Another user wrote, “Depends on the location as well. If Gujarat then Elon Bhai, If Maharashtra then Elon Bhau, If Telangana then Elon Gaaru, If Haryana then Elon Tau, If Punjab then Elon Paaji, If Tamil Nadu then Elon Anna, If West Bengal then Elon Dada”.

Reports say the Modi government is trying to create a better tax and duty set up for Tesla and encouraging the factory to be in Gujarat.
