Bachchan’s Regret: I Couldn’t Spend Time With My Kids

MUMBAI- Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been a part of the film industry for almost 60 years. Despite his success, he regrets not having spent more time with his children, Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan, during their childhood.

During a recent episode of his quiz show, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, Bachchan reminisced about the days when he was busy with film shoots while his wife, Jaya Bachchan, raised their kids.

“Our environment was very simple. Jaya would take care of the kids, and I would go to work,” said Bachchan to one of the contestants. “But there is one thing that I really regret, and that is I couldn’t spend time with my kids when they were little. I used to work from morning to night. When I would leave in the morning for work, they would be sleeping, and when I used to come back home, they would be sleeping. Jaya took care of them completely.”

He added that he sometimes wished he could have spent more time with Abhishek and Shweta. The family then decided that he would not work on Sundays, dedicating the day entirely to his family. “We used to make food for the kids and eat with them that day. Even today, we follow the same tradition that on every Sunday, the whole family sits together and has food together.”

Bachchan, 82, has been hosting ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ for 23 years. The show is the official Hindi adaptation of the ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ franchise. Despite his age, Bachchan is known for his immense energy and dedication to his work.

His son, Abhishek, is a popular Bollywood star married to actress and former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai. His daughter, Shweta, is married to businessman Nikhil Nanda. His wife, Jaya Bachchan, took a sabbatical from acting while at the top of her career in the 70s to raise their family. (IANS)
