Bollywood Hits Olympic Ice As Anastasiia Gubanova Skates To ‘Dhurandhar’

MUMBAI -Georgian figure skater Anastasiia Gubanova departed from traditional orchestral music during her routine at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, performing to a curated Bollywood mashup at the Milano Ice Skating Arena on February 8.

The 23-year-old, who won the European Championship in 2023, opened her women’s singles free skating program with “San Sananana Sana” from Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Ashoka’ before transitioning into the title track of ‘Dhurandhar’, the megahit starring Ranveer Singh. The routine incorporated sharp spins and a Punjabi folk-inspired step choreographed to match the high-energy composition.

Gubanova also reflected the musical theme through her presentation, competing in a red-and-gold costume and wearing a red bindi. The combination of music and attire drew widespread attention online.

While the Olympic appearance marked the routine’s highest-profile outing, media reports said Gubanova had previously performed the same Bollywood mashup at an international event in Beijing in September 2025.
