CINCINNATI, OH – Vivek Ramaswamy has launched a major television advertising push in his campaign for governor of Ohio, committing roughly $10 million to ads that will run from mid March through the November general election.

According to Breitbart News, the scale and duration of the buy is unusual in state level politics, coming more than 230 days before the general election. The advertising push began March 12 and is expected to remain on air throughout the campaign season, with the possibility that additional spending could be added later in the year.

Ramaswamy’s campaign has emphasized its strong fundraising performance, which it says has broken previous records in Ohio gubernatorial politics and more than doubled earlier benchmarks. The financial advantage is expected to allow the campaign to dominate television advertising compared with potential rivals.

Interestingly, one ad titled ‘Ohio’s Future’ centers on his family life and features his wife, Apoorva Ramaswamy, speaking directly to viewers about her husband and their young family. In the advertisement she reflects on the couple’s newborn child and describes Ramaswamy’s motivation for entering public service, framing his campaign around concerns shared by many Ohio families such as safe communities, strong schools, and economic stability.

A second commercial titled ‘Backing the Blue’ focuses on public safety and support for law enforcement. The spot includes Stephen Levorchick, the sheriff of Ottawa County, Ohio, who discusses Ramaswamy’s stance on policing and public safety issues.

Ramaswamy, who previously ran for the Republican presidential nomination, is widely expected to face Democrat Amy Acton in the November election if he secures the Republican nomination.
